Rugby in St. Petersburg

Rugby may not be as popular as some mainstream American sports like baseball and football, but it is played in local and regional leagues with as much passion and skill as it is played in Europe. A predecessor of gridiron football, St. Petersburg rugby is played at both the amateur and professional level in local leagues divided among men, women, and youth teams. Local teams depend on both the bodies and wallets of members to survive, often requiring dues to help with the cost of running the league.
