Because so many native species are facing extinction, St. Petersburg land and wildlife agencies are charged with protecting them from the onslaught of hunting, climate change, and human expansion, all of which threaten their existence. These agencies work with locals and government officials to find solutions for the threatened, endangered, and rare species in the area. Thanks to state wildlife grants and private donations, there is still hope that many of the species may survive another day.
