The Division's Audit Services is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve an organization's operations. It helps an organization accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes. The Division of Inspector General is responsible for auditing operations of the Board of County Commissioners, the Clerk of the Circuit Court, contractors doing business with the county, and county revenue sources.

The Division, through authorization by the Fraud, Waste and Abuse Policy and Procedures, is hereby authorized to establish the Public Integrity Unit (PIU) within the Division. The PIU will conduct investigative audits into County affairs, and for that purpose make such inquires as necessary, administer oaths, compel the production of books, papers and implement appropriate investigative techniques to obtain evidence material to said investigative audit.
