Guide to Central Oak Park
Things to Do in Central Oak Park
View MapAs befits the name of this neighborhood, Central Oak Park Neighborhood is in the heart of St. Petersburg, five minutes in either direction from the vibrant nightlife of downtown or the pristine waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Housing is made up primarily of single-family homes, and includes a mix of bungalows, ranch homes, and some modern structures.
The Central Avenue Trolley runs through the community, making it easy to hit the beach or grab a drink in the nearby Grand Central District.
The streets have a serene feel, ringed with large oaks. Some streets are brick, and date to the art deco period of the 1920s. Located in one of the highest elevations in St. Petersburg, Central Oak Park is also the starting point for the Pinellas Trail with its biking, running, and walking trails. Readers can rejoice, the classic St. Petersburg Main Library is also in this community. Jorgensen Lake Park is the largest in the community, with fifteen acres of green space, a great spot to curl up in the Florida sunshine with a book from the library.
